In order to find out what the trainee programme at the leading global brewer is about, we spoke with AB InBev.
What’s so special about the AB InBev Global Management Trainee Program?
Our Global Management Trainee Program gives trainees a great insight what our business is all about. All trainees get to spend time at the heart of our business, like in Sales and Supply (where we brew our beer). This experience, and understanding the different aspects of our company, is essential for a long career at AB InBev. As a trainee, you have an incredible contact with top management. It is not only shaking the hand of the director of Western Europe zone, it’s having a two hours meeting with him since he wants to have our specific view and opinion on a particular topic. Furthermore, AB InBev offers his great performing employees a fast moving career throughout the business. Starting in this traineeship is certainly a great way to start your career at AB InBev!
What are the advantages for graduates to take part in this programme?
The program is a great way to understand our business because trainees can participate in many different projects in Sales and Supply. This program is also a good way to start an international career in Western Europe. Trainees are identified as high potentials and culturally aligned. Obviously, this helps to catch attention from management and to build a strong network within the company.
What sort of background should applicants have?
A background in Business, IT or Engineering is preferred. We are looking for rational thinking people who are willing to learn and improve themselves continuously. International work or study experience is preferred.
What can applicants do to overcome the competition?
The program is very popular and therefore attracts many good people. However, we only want great people for this traineeship. We are looking for people who stand out of the crowd, people who show that they want to grow continuously and are not afraid to give their opinion. Don’t let this scare you; every student has his chance since we put a strong focus on cultural alignment and leadership potential.
Do you have any other advice for applicants to get hired?
All applicants should participate actively in assessment sessions. Be yourself and try to relax a bit. Of course some preparation in order to understand the company and the culture is always a good point. AB InBev has a strong company culture, and it is not only words: managers feel and live the culture on their daily job. The application process is fun and interesting. Even though there is a possibility that you will not be chosen, it will still be a very good learning experience.
What happens after the trainee program?
After the programme, trainees can put forward their preference for positions that they would like to start in. This can either be a project or a leadership position in which you will lead a small team. The possibilities are throughout our business, like Supply, Sales, Marketing, Procurement, etc. The preferences of the trainees are then matched to open positions in the company.
